Description:

Oversee multiple building financial operations, from oversight of AP and AR, to preparing monthly and annual GAAP financial statements to our owner portfolios. In addition to financial statement preparation, duties include bank and balance sheet reconciliations, monthly journal entries for accruals, assisting operations with budget analysis, providing financial documents for tax preparations, and maintaining working capital reports.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Preparing GAAP financial reports for ownership monthly and annually– Including, but not limited to, accurate balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, AP/AR Agings

Performing account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

Reviewing working capital for cash flow requirements

Approving Accounts Payable weekly.

Reviewing Accounts Receivable to ensure revenue is billed timely and correctly

Assisting Building Managers with accounting questions and issues for operations

Assist Asset Managers with capital expense requests, annual budgets and annual CAM/Escalation calculations

Assisting with audit preparations as needed

Performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Strong GAAP Financial Accounting background required

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or portfolio-specific training to co-workers.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE - Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. Plus, a minimum of five years prior accounting, finance or related experience required. Experience with real estate accounting software preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES - CPA preferred

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

 

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE - Requires strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including an intermediate knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP). 

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES - Intermediate knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products). Ability to work in multiple accounting software applications.

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY- Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers, supervisor and client.
