Overview JMS Energy is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems across a variety of projects. Responsibilities Promote and follow JMS safety standards on-site, prioritizing and demonstrating safe behavior Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and job site hazard assessments Perform fiber splicing, termination, and testing Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to ensure optimal system performance Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber lines or signal issues Maintain accurate documentation of work performed Comply with OSHA, NFPA 70E and site-specific safety requirements in all daily activities and tasks Other duties as assigned Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong commitment to safety Working knowledge of basic construction principles Ability to read and interpret schematics and other technical documents Familiarity with industry standard testing equipment (OTDR, VFL, power meters) Mechanical inclination and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose and resolve system issues Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse project teams Work Environment This is a site-based role and includes work performed in all weather conditions and may include exposure to dust, fumes and loud noises On-site work requires adherence to safety regulations and Company policies Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing or walking 8-10 hours per day Travel to various JMS jobsite locations may be required with limited notice EEO Statement JMS Energy provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
