Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Oncology Editor to lead the assignment and editing of medical news content specifically focused on oncology, targeting a physician and specialist audience. This role is a hybrid of editorial leadership and feature journalism , requiring both a strong news instinct and the ability to craft in-depth investigative features. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of oncology, editorial precision, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and virtual newsroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign and edit timely, relevant oncology news for an audience of practicing oncologists and related specialties.
• Pitch and write engaging, well-researched feature articles with fresh perspectives in collaboration with the Executive Editor.
• Collaborate with marketing to develop engaging newsletters and promotional content.
• Work with operations teams to ensure efficient and timely content publication.

Qualifications:

Experience & Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in medical or health content editing and writing.
• Deep understanding of oncology terminology, trends, and clinical relevance.
• Proven experience assigning and guiding freelance writers.
• Strong editing skills focused on accuracy , balance , and clinical relevance .
• Skilled in writing deep-dive, investigative, or longform medical features.
• Able to distill complex medical or scientific information into accessible, clear content.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong proofreading ability and deadline discipline.
• Strong initiative, reliability, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Collaborative mindset suited to a fast-paced multimedia content team.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in English , Biology , Journalism , or a related field required.
