Job Description

Overview K12, a Stride Company, provides families with an online option for high-quality, personalized education. The Shared Teacher Experience Program (STEP) seeks passionate educators to join a team delivering high school math instruction in an online environment. Responsibilities Deliver High School Math instruction online and provide instruction, support, and guidance that focuses on students’ individual needs. Conduct live synchronous teaching (minimum of 15 hours per week); support objectives asynchronously (planning learning plans, sending emails, and using data to determine student needs). Monitor student progress through the Stride K12 learning management system; submit grades and required student work; maintain grade book; generate reports on student progress and communications with parents/learning coaches. Collaborate with local/regional/national teams and teacher trainers regarding instruction, resources, interventions, and data-driven decision making. Be coachable and work with administrators and teacher trainers to refine course content according to policies and procedures; available for regular coaching. Support relationship building with families; communicate with students and learning coaches/parents; assist with setup and maintenance of the learning environment (including basic computer troubleshooting). Coordinate within the virtual classroom to support student progress; travel occasionally for state testing or other school functions as required. Essential Functions Instructional Takes ownership of students’ academic progress and attendance; maintains high expectations for achievement. Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests. Performs live teaching and asynchronous support as described above. Relationship Building Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families; communicates regularly with students and learning coaches/parents. Supports students and learning coaches with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual setting. Assists with the setup and maintenance of the learning environment and basic technology troubleshooting. Other Essential Functions Organizes social and educational activities for students and families as required; may proctor testing at sites as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Six (6) months of student teaching experience Ability to clear required background check(s) Desired Qualifications Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align with the K12 curriculum Pedagogical knowledge of content and ability to apply critical thinking Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently Experience working in a virtual environment and with online platforms (e.g., Blackboard Collaborate, Newrow, Edgelink) Ability to travel as required (approximately 10% of the time) for professional development or testing Access to reliable high-speed internet; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint Compensation & Benefits Salary: approximately $20-25/hour, up to 25 hours per week. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Benefits may include health coverage, retirement contributions, and paid time off, depending on eligibility. Work Environment This is a virtual position.
