Position Overview

As an independent publisher for Mount Pleasant Lifestyle, we are looking for a local editor/content creator who is responsible for managing the editorial themes for the monthly magazine. This person will have a variety of responsibilities. You MUST live within 30 miles of the Charleston area. Please only apply if you meet these qualifications. The position is responsible for supervising the magazine’s freelance writers and photographers and organizing all editorial content for the monthly publication.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Planning & Content Creation

• Coordinate all editorial.
• Plan and assign Photography/Editorial for all issues.
• Ensure that the assigned layout is executed effectively by adhering to word count requirements and incorporating the necessary photographic elements.
• Manage content monthly and assign freelance work or write and edit articles yourself.
• Oversee content alignment and specifications with brand style, deadlines, and quality standards.
• Develop and assign editorial themes for each issue.
• Work with the publisher to align content with audience and advertiser interests
• Collaborate with vendors on styled shoots and visual storytelling

Contributor Management

• Assign and manage freelance writers and photographers
• Maintain professional relationships with contributors (Writers and Photographers)
• Track and submit payments due monthly to the publisher for freelance contractors.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience

• Background in writing, creating content, or visual creative work, and leadership skills.

Skills

• Highly organized with excellent time management skills is a must to create and execute high-quality monthly publication issues.
• Strong communicator.
• Professional and personable communication style for local editorial interviews and community engagement.

Tech Proficiency

• Familiarity with management systems and digital communication tools.

Residence

• (Must reside in the U.S. and live within 30 miles of the publication territory.
