Title/Position: Remote College Admissions Counselor
Job Description:This position is responsible for guiding and supporting students through the college admissions process. The counselor works closely with departmental leadership, prospective students, counselors, and other stakeholders to achieve enrollment targets for specific schools. The role involves planning, implementing, and overseeing recruitment strategies, as well as providing counseling to prospective students and parents. The counselor also assists students in preparing for the admissions process, including creating roadmaps and timelines for individual students. Additionally, the role involves regular communication with staff, report writing, and maintaining recruitment guidelines.
Examples of Work Performed:
Define key schools, set enrollment targets, and implement strategies to reach those targets.
Conduct meetings with prospective students, counselors, and other stakeholders.
Correspond with prospective students, applicants, and families seeking admissions information.
Assist students in developing monthly/yearly plans for the admissions process.
Prepare roadmaps and timelines for each student.
Communicate with staff weekly regarding students' planning.
Conduct multiple meetings with each student during the admissions process.
Write reports after each student meeting and post them on the database.
Prepare students for college interviews and support them with admissions essays.
Recommend and inform students about required/beneficial courses and exams.
Create and maintain recruitment guidelines and goals for future efforts.
Coordinate and participate in the implementation of recruitment strategies.
Provide tips and recommendations for school acceptance.
Conduct research on internships, schools, summer programs, and extracurricular activities.
Counsel prospective students and parents regarding the admissions process and selected universities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and any related field (required).
Master's degree in any related field (a plus).
Must be a graduate of a Top 10 university or close to.
5+ years of relevant experience.
Prior member of the Admissions Commitee at a university.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of Zoom and Google Meets.
Proven experience working with and speaking to young adults.
Ability to work extended hours during critical admissions seasons.
Strong communication skills for effective and persuasive information delivery.
Extensive knowledge of universities and their admissions processes.
Highly organized with a strong propensity for timeliness and professionalism.
Availability to communicate with team members from different time zones via database and Whatsapp when needed.
