Position Overview HDR is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our South Carolina Area Transportation Business Group. This role can be based out of any of the following offices: Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, or Fort Mill. In this role, you will: Lead a team of engineers and EITs on various traffic-related projects, including capacity analysis, traffic forecasting, simulation modeling, roadway and signal design, transit support, and more. Operate as a Task Lead under a Project Engineer/Manager or serve as a Project Manager as required. Conduct operational traffic analysis utilizing various modeling tools, from highway capacity software to micro simulation models. Analyze traffic at different scales, from intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeways. Participate in traffic signal design and timing projects, including drafting plans, field visits, calculations, and cost estimates. Provide technical mentorship to junior staff. Engage in continuous learning and industry development. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Civil Engineering preferred. Experience in toll roads, roadway design, or construction is advantageous. Additional licensure like PTOE or RSP preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Vissim/Visum, ArcGIS, TransModeler, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Local candidates are preferred. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. At least 10 years of experience in ITS and traffic engineering for various highway types and intersections. Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. Knowledge of transportation regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and traffic modeling software. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
