Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions. Key Job Responsibilities S3 Vertex (formerly Request Shaping team) is tasked with building the next generation of services dedicated to bringing Quality of Service to S3 Customers and balancing the wide variety of requests processed by S3. As a Software Development Engineer on the S3 Vertex Team, you will contribute to key development projects integrating with S3 APIs processing hundreds of trillions of transactions per month. You will also build and enhance new services using distributed micro-services architectures and expert knowledge, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques to analyze requests and autonomously mitigate undesired behavior at the massive scale of S3. Engineers on this team must have a deep knowledge of computer science, a solid foundation in secure engineering practices, and a genuine desire to mentor and lead their more junior teammates. About the Team This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs.
