The NISC IV program at Leidos is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and coordinating communication radio frequency assignments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide safe voice communication service channels between pilots and controllers. The engineer will work closely with regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and project managers to support spectrum-related initiatives across various projects. Primary Responsibilities: Radio Frequency Engineering: Familiarity with frequency assignment principles, RF propagation, and interference mitigation. Support coordination of radio frequencies across diverse systems, including voice and data communications. Telecommunications Systems Knowledge: Understanding of land mobile radio (LMR) systems, analog and digital radio networks, and narrowband operations. Reviewing and validating frequency assignment data and evaluating system compatibility. Analytical and Technical Writing Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team. Interpretation of technical data and preparation of documentation such as coordination summaries, engineering notes, and SOPs. Problem Solving and Decision Making: Identifying potential conflicts in frequency usage and proposing solutions based on engineering judgment. Interpersonal Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Coordination with internal stakeholders and external agencies to resolve spectrum issues. Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to diverse audiences. General Technical Competency: Proficiency with office software and ability to learn specialized frequency management tools. Staying updated with communication technologies, industry standards, FCC regulations, and best practices. Adherence to spectrum regulations, including coordination with authorities. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years in RF engineering, telecommunications systems, or spectrum coordination. Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance (U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder residing in the U.S. for the past 3 years). All new hires must pass a drug test prior to starting with Leidos. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with frequency assignment principles, RF propagation, and interference mitigation. Experience with land mobile radio (LMR) systems, analog and digital radio networks, and narrowband operations.
