Job Description Summary Instructor of Political Science in Subfield of Comparative Politics - Serve as instructor of record for most courses on comparative politics, including the introductory survey course and any upper-division courses on comparative politics. Offer PLSC 261 each semester, unless the needs of the department dictate otherwise. Offer courses in areas of specialty or interest outside comparative politics with the approval of the department chair.
Model United Nations (MUN) Instructor and Faculty Advisor: - Serve as instructor of record for PLSC 333 each semester; - Serve as faculty advisor for MUN club and direct/advise students on compliance with university policies and ASULV club regulations; - Supervise and mentor student leaders of La Verne MUN club; - Act as liaison with other universities when planning La Verne MUN-hosted conferences and events; - Serve as faculty host of events sponsored by La Verne MUN; - Supervise student administrative work supporting conferences and events; - Supervise student delegation travelling to other conferences; - Invite and host any speakers invited by La Verne MUN program.
International Studies Institute Advisory Committee Member/ Director - Attend all meetings of the International Studies Institute Advisory Committee; -Make suggestions and help with planning of Institute's programs, including monthly Hot Spots and annual Ispahani-Bhutto Lecture.
Scholar - Maintain active engagement with the field of political science and, especially, with subfield of comparative politics.
Faculty Academic Advisor -Meet with undergraduate advisees for overall professional guidance and mentoring;-Meet with advisees each semester before registration period.
Minimum Qualifications - Must have terminal degree, Ph.D., in Political Science or closely related discipline.
- Main area of specialization must be comparative politics.
- Teaching own course on any subject within comparative politics.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of and familiarity with Model United Nations, the actual United Nations, or simulations/debate.
