This is an opportunity to work with the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) in meeting the mission of administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.82 *Earn an additional hourly rate up to $4.10 per hour in unused Health and Welfare monies Job Description: As a Biometric Technician (BT), you will be responsible for supporting the mission of a government program located in Anchorage, AK. This position works as a part of a dynamic team of professionals assisting the USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) operations. Amentum provides all required job training for qualified candidates. This position is an on-call (casual) team member. On-Call (casual) employees are expected to be available all five days, Monday through Friday from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm for substitute coverage as needed at the site. This is not a regular Full Time or Part Time position; it is a Casual On-Call position. All efforts are made to notify On-Call personnel in advance of the site on-call needs, however, employees may be notified the night before or the day of. Interested candidates must meet this availability. Hours are not guaranteed, and employees are on an “as needed” basis, so a steady income stream cannot be guaranteed. This position is ideal for candidates seeking supplemental income and flexibility without a committed schedule. Primary Responsibilities include: Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States. Ensure all who enter the ASC are approved applicants and visitors, providing crowd control and assisting staff in enforcing rules and policies. Provide front-line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the US Government. Highlights of Responsibilities: Providing applicants with excellent customer service is primary. Personnel must work well with the public, display a cheerful demeanor, manage applicants with courtesy and respect, and safeguard all areas with sensitive Personal Identifiable Information (PII). Perform quality biometrics processing, including capturing electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within established times. Screen applicants for valid appointment notices and IDs. Utilize crowd control barriers to ensure safe, organized entry. Inspect applicants and belongings, asking health-related questions during crises. Conduct facility checks and report concerns. Assist in calling law enforcement or first responders when necessary. Manage administrative tasks such as tracking processing times, reconciling biometric data, maintaining visitor logs, and completing facility checks. Required Qualifications: Must obtain and maintain facility credentials, which require US Citizenship. High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak and write English. Ability to stand for entire shift, excluding breaks. Ability to hold and grasp hands for fingerprinting. Ability to work in a high-paced environment with the public. Basic computer skills and typing ability. Complete biometrics training and certification within sixty days. Desired Skills: Ability to speak a foreign language. *This position is regulated by the Department of Labor as a Service Contract Act (SCA) contract. The DOL sets the minimum hourly rate, benefits, and health/welfare contributions. On-Call employees are not eligible for benefits; unused health and welfare dollars up to $4.10 per hour will be paid.
